American coin silver napkin ring having a waisted body with applied pear shaped rims and allover engine turned decorations surrounding an engraved foliate cartouche containing the presentation inscription: From Fannie to Dexter Sept 2nd 1864. The date is historically significant as is coincides with the surrender of Atlanta to the Union forces during the American Civil War. Weighing 31 grams, this large and impressive napkin ring is 1 7/8" in diameter and 1 3/4" tall. Inscribed as described above, the soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. The excellent original condition and clear detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
